Rūta Kiškytė is an L.A. and Vilnius based Lithuanian production designer, our Alumni lecturer. Rūta has started her career as a jewelry designer, who found her way to the backstage of advertising and cinema as a production designer. She graduated in stage design and visual communication to gain the knowledge to express the ideas through the visual means. Her portfolio in advertising includes global brands like “Gucci”, “Nivea”, “Adidas”, “Samsung” among others.
Rūta remembers her first time working on a movie set pretty well. She was overwhelmed by understanding that each and every frame takes an immense amount of time and effort to construct. But since 2013 Rūta cannot imagine her professional life without production design.
Rūta Kiškytė believes that in this industry it is essentially important not only to trust yourself, but also to be able to hear those around you and acknowledge your own faults, to learn from them. For her, being a production designer means constant learning and trying to be better at what she does. Rūta thinks that while unique ideas and beauty are important in this field, there is nothing more important than people in this industry.
